In 1995, the Conference of Young Legal Historians received its official name, which it still has today: European Forum of Young Legal Historians, and since then it has also become popular to give these forums a title around which the theme of the conferences can be organised. The first European Forum of Young Legal Historians held in Halle an der Salle was subtitled: “History of Law and Enlightenment”. The European Forum of Young Legal Historians was organised in Berlin in 1996 under the thematic title “Law and Social Transformation”, the annual forum in 1997 was organised by the University of Graz under the title “Laws without Borders – Borders without Laws”. In 1998, such an academic meeting for young legal historians took place in Munich, where the forum was entitled “Continuity and rupture in European legal history”. In 1999, the fifth annual forum entitled “Legal (Hi)stories?” was held in Zurich and a year later the conference moved to Leipzig, where the theme of the thematic conferences was “Ius commune propriumque: Saxony in the mirror of law”. After Osnabrück, the forums left the German-speaking area for some time and moved to Budapest in 2003 and Warsaw in 2004. The forums held there were entitled “The New Europe and its Traditions” and “The European Community of Law: Between Tradition and Perspectives”. In 2005, Switzerland hosted the European Forum of Young Legal Historians, when Lucerne hosted the event, which became known to all young legal historians of the time. One year after the return of the Annual Forum, it was once again hosted by the Max Planck Institute for European Legal History in Frankfurt under the slogan “Remember and forget”. As in Frankfurt, as in Lucerne, it was explained that it would be desirable and advantageous to open up to southern Europe, since no participants from Italy, Spain, Portugal and Greece had been present until then. It is also important that forums address general topics in their call for papers, such as those that allow for the inclusion of a wide range of ongoing research on legal history without time limit. See the full schedule of upcoming webinars and conferences. The results of the conference will be published in the series “Jahrbuch Junge Rechtsgeschichte”.
